Today was a long day of travel for many of us. We left Portland around 9 am and got into Narita about 1:30 am Beaverton time, 4:30 pm Japan time. Going through customs was amazingly easy. I didn't see a single suitcase examined. We were met by two very nice guides who arranged transportation to the Mercure Hotel Narita with a bus that fit all of our luggage and most of our people. After checking into our rooms a large group met in the lobby at 7 pm Narita time for an evening walking tour of Narita. The weather was overcast with a lush breeze and temperature 22 C. The night scene was fun with lots of restaurants filled with people enjoying life with friends and family. Fabulous restaurant smells everywhere. As we progressed on the tour we got into the more historic district ending with the majestically beautiful Naritasan Shinshoji Temple. On the way back to the hotel 7 of us stopped for dinner at a Tempura Restaurant. Narita is a really nice place.
Tomorrow we meet after breakfast at 7:40 am in the lobby of the hotel to go to the train station where we will go to Tokyo, about an hour away.
